The Alternative PHP Cache (APC) is a free and open opcode cache for PHP. It’s goal is to provide a free, open, and robust framework for caching and optimizing PHP intermediate code.<\/p>\n

Download latest APC from pecl.<\/p>\n

# cd \/usr\/local\/src\/
\n# wget http:\/\/pecl.php.net\/get\/APC <\/strong><\/p>\n

Extract the downloaded APC and compile it.<\/p>\n

# tar -xvf APC
\n# cd APC-*
\n# phpize
\n# .\/configure
\n# make && make install <\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, you will have to enable the extension in php.ini on your server. Below command will give you the exact server’s php.ini<\/p>\n

# php -i | grep php.ini<\/strong><\/p>\n

Add “extension=apc.so”<\/b> & restart apache.<\/p>\n

To check if it is compiled properly, use command below OR create a phpinfo<\/a> & check the output.<\/p>\n

# php -i | grep apc<\/strong><\/p>\n
