If you already have a domain registered with any domain hosting provider and would like to point it toward your hosting with Namecheap, this guide will help you update your DNS settings accurately.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Get Namecheap’s Nameservers
Before doing anything else, ensure that you log into your Namecheap account and find the appropriate nameservers under the hosting or DNS service section. They usually look like
- dns1.namecheaphosting.com
- dns2.namecheaphosting.com
Note: You can find these under Namecheap Dashboard > Domain List > Manage > Nameservers.
2. Log in to Your Provider’s Client Area.
- We are referring to MilesWeb’s mPanel dashboard.
- Visit MilesWeb Client Login.
- Input your login details and load the dashboard.
3. Navigate to Domain Management.
- You can access this via Domains > My Domains.
- Select the domain that you want to point to.
4. Change Nameservers
- Within the domain management page, locate the Nameservers section.
- Select Use custom nameservers (enter below).
- Paste the Namecheap nameservers from step 1.
- Click Save Changes.
5. Allow Propagation Time
DNS updates sometimes take about 24-48 hours for full global propagation. During this time, your domain starts pointing toward your Namecheap service gradually.
To point your domain from MilesWeb to Namecheap, all that is required is updating nameservers on the MilesWeb dashboard. Pay close attention to the nameserver details to avoid connectivity issues.
