How to Manage the DNS Zone on Rumahweb?

 3 min

Overview

If you have your domain hosted by Rumahweb and have another provider, such as MilesWeb, then hosting your website or mail and changing your DNS settings will ensure smooth operation. In this guide, we will assist you in accessing and modifying your DNS Zone records in Rumahweb’s domain control panel.

What Is a DNS Zone and Why Manage It?

The DNS Zone is the central hub of your domain name. It controls how your domain connects with web hosting, email services, and other online systems. Whether you’re routing your domain to MilesWeb’s servers or setting up email services, proper DNS setup is essential.

Pre-Requisites

  1. Domain registered with Rumahweb.
  2. Rumahweb client dashboard.
  3. DNS records (like A, CNAME, MX, TXT, etc.) from your hosting or email provider

Step-by-Step Guide: Access and Manage Your DNS Zone

Step 1: Log in to the Rumahweb Client Portal

  • Go to Rumahweb’s Client Area.
  • Enter your credentials and sign in to your account.

Step 2: Navigate to Your Domain

  • After logging in, click on Domain in the main menu.
  • Select the specific domain you want to manage.
  • Look for the DNS Management or Kelola DNS option.

Step 3: Enable DNS Management (If Not Enabled)

  • If you haven’t used DNS management before:
  • Rumahweb may ask you to activate DNS management.
  • Click Enable or Activate DNS Zone Editor.
  • Save the changes.

Note: For domains that utilize Rumahweb’s default nameservers, DNS Zone management will be available. If your domain has external nameservers (ns1.milesweb.com), make DNS alterations where these nameservers are located.

Step 4: Edit or Add DNS Records

On the DNS Zone page, you’ll see existing records like A, MX, TXT, and CNAME.

To modify a record:

  • Click Edit next to the specific record.
  • Enter the new values provided by your service, such as the MilesWeb hosting IP.
  • Click Save or Simpan.

To add a new record:

  • Click Add New Record.
  • Select the record type (like A, MX, TXT).
  • Fill in the required fields (Name, TTL, Value).
  • Save your changes.

Example: To point your domain to MilesWeb’s server, add an A record that points to the IP address you received from MilesWeb.

Step 5: Verify Your DNS Configuration

DNS changes can take up to 24-48 hours to spread worldwide. Use online DNS Checker tools to monitor the update status.

Key Points

Don’t delete records unless you’re certain about them. Incorrect DNS settings can lead to downtime.

If you’re using MilesWeb’s nameservers, make all DNS changes directly in the MilesWeb DNS Zone Editor.

For hybrid setups (email with one provider and hosting with another), double-check all entries to avoid conflicts.
