This tutorial focuses on the fundamentals of Elgg’s website administration.
Login to the admin account of your Elgg installation.
When you login as an administrator, you get access to various tools provided by Elgg. You can add additional functionality to your Elgg account through plugins.
Elgg comprises of many tools that are pre-installed. It is important to take into consideration that these tools are not enabled for a new Elgg installation. You can select the tools that you want to enable for your website from the ones that are available. You can easily enable all the default tools. For doing this, you need to go to the ‘Tool administration’ section and click on the ‘Enable All’ option.
You can choose to enable only some features as well. Scroll down to the page and click ‘Enable’ only for the tools that you want to use for your website.
For instance, if you want to enable your website members to invite their friends to the community, you can enable the ‘invitefriends’ tool.
When you enable all the default tools for your Elgg installation, you will see the additional options as well.
